Open data, experiences and trends – 7th Forum

During this presentation, the head of the unit of State modernization and digital Government of Chile Jorge Alzamora, he discussed the importance of a policy data open to citizenship by governmental institutions.
As central point of this policy is to strengthen the concept of transparency, giving access to people, institutions, etc., to little processed data (raw) for different purposes (research, technological applications, generation of reports and statistics generation, etc.) with the ultimate goal of adding value to different databases managed by public institutions. In this sense, the role of the Government is focused on facilitating access to these public databases, eliminating bureaucratic barriers to their use and strengthen the transparency of the system.
During the presentation is ejemplificaron some cases in the national context, distinguishing between access to databases, raw and processed data (information).
